South East Victoria

South East Victoria, or Gippsland, is home to the La Trobe Valley: the source of three-quarters of Victoria’s electricity. Richly endowed with oil, coal and natural gas reserves, the region also accesses energy offshore in the Bass Strait.
Fertile land is another natural resource of the area. Many of Australia’s premier dairies, wine growers, organic farms and forests are located here. Industry clusters in energy, manufacturing and information technology are well established.
A variety of affordable commercial and industrial sites are available with existing road, rail and energy infrastructure. Telecommunications and social support networks are in place for newcomers to the area.
Gippsland offers excellence in education, from school to tertiary levels. The region’s workforce has access to an extensive network of active local adult and vocational learning centres.
The South East incorporates most of the State's rainforest as well as pristine beaches, rivers and lakes, snowfields and wilderness areas.
