Horticulture and viticulture are the area's key primary industries, while cereal, cattle and wool production is strong in the dry land areas. Growing tourism, wine, agroforestry, manufacturing and olive oil industries compliment the regions successful agricultural industries. Major rail and road networks traverse the region, and port facilities are within easy access.
