- The Defence Science and Technology Organisation, which investigates future technologies for defence applications.
- The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), which has a manufacturing and infrastructure technology focus including microtechnology for radar applications.
- The University of Melbourne, which has capabilities in network centric warfare and data fusion.
- RMIT University, which has expertise in photonics research for electronic warfare applications.
- A Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Advanced Composite Structures, which conducts research into the design and research of advanced composite structures.
- A Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Microtechnology, which conducts research into micro-manufacturing technologies.
- Australian Aerospace and Defence Innovations (AADI), which facilitates technology uptake in the defence sector to support Australia’s defence capabilities.
