More jobs were created in Victoria than any other state in the year to January, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics Labour Force figures released today.
Treasurer John Lenders said Victorian job creation continued to lead the nation and said Victoria had the right policy settings in place to provide a vibrant business environment.
“Our competitive tax regime and record investment in infrastructure help make Victoria a great place to live, work and invest,” Mr Lenders said.
Today’s figures show an additional 7,500 jobs were created in the first month of this year, bringing the total number of jobs for the last twelve months to 90,400 – the largest increase of any state.
Over the year, Victoria’s employment growth rate of 3.5 per cent exceeded the national average of 2.7 per cent and was second only to the resource-rich state of Western Australia.
