Primus Telecom has chosen Melbourne as the location for its new 430 seat, state-of-the-art call centre, prompted to expand due to increased demand for its telecommunications and broadband services.

The new call centre is a fully integrated facility encompassing all aspects of customer contact including inbound and outbound sales, service delivery, provisioning, billing, customer care and technical help desk functions. The new facility also incorporates a training and development centre that provides specialised skills required for managing complex high technology services.

"By investing in Australia's telecommunications industry, Primus is continuing to play an important role in delivering competition for the benefit of Australian consumers. The Australian Government welcomes investments such as the new Primus call centre in Melbourne," Federal Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, said at the official opening.
Ravi Bhatia, CEO Primus Telecom, said: “Instead of shipping this major facility offshore, Primus believes that our Australian workforce delivers a superior standard of customer care, therefore we have decided to locate our new Call Centre here. We believe this aptly demonstrates the importance Primus attaches to genuine customer care.
“Primus Telecom has contributed directly to creating 700 to 1000 jobs in Australia and indirectly another 1000 jobs across the country. The investment in this new call centre is testament to Primus' faith and confidence in Australia,” said Ravi Bhatia.
